Lanvin at Paris Fashion Week
On Friday October 1st, Lanvin showed it’s Spring 2011 collection.
Designer Alber Elbaz designed his collection for the real woman. One who knows what she wants and calls the shots. Fashion doesn’t control her life, it enhances it. We saw all of this in his collection which had both strength and glamor. This is what Elbaz had to say himself about his collection, “The whole idea of fashion is to make women fly and to make women beautiful, and to make women glamorous. This is the story of the collection.”
The collection included long flowy skirts and dresses combined with body suits and harnesses. Some pieces had a unique combination of flow and structure. The color pallet included lots of browns, black, and navy with pops of colors like red, pink, and yellow. Several pieces at the end of the collection had exquisite jewel and bead work.
Zac Posen at Paris Fashion Week
This week Zac Posen showed for the first time at Paris Fashion Week. The venue was the 19th-century gilded ballroom of the Westin Hotel. His collections main feature? Feathers. The collection consisted primarily of cocktail and evening dressed. Some of which were quite revealing. Posen’s collection was far from his usual girly glam.
It has been Posen’s dream to show at Paris Fashion Week. He definitely made his presence known with this risqué collection.
What do you think of Posen’s Paris Fashion Week premier?
Fashionista of the Week
Taylor Swift was in attendance at the Roberto Cavalli fashion show on Monday in Milan. Dressed in head to toe Cavalli she exudes the essence of this seasons fashion trends. What else would we expect from this trendy starlet?
Paul Smith London Fashion Week Recap
One week ago Paul Smith showed his Spring/Summer 2011 collection at the London Fashion Week.
His women’s collection had a lot of men’s wear inspiration. He was also inspired by rock & roll and a painting a fan sent him. A notable touch to his collection is his use of dark rich colors. The collection includes a lot of tailored pieces including pantsuits, vests, and jumpers. He accessorized his collection perfectly with ties and brief cases. Although the looks were very masculine, Smith added just the right touches of femininity to each look. These touches gave his collection just the right amount of sex appeal.
When asked to describe his ideal client Smith said, “Hopefully someone who is individual and not looking for label identification.”
L.A.M.B. Ready To Wear Recap
The Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. Ready To Wear runway line debuted last week Thursday, September 16th.
Lower crotches, rockin’ cropped jackets, and bold prints were all included in her ready to wear line for Spring 2011. Checks and plaids were quite constant in her punch of punk which definitely made her geographic influence bright and eye catching. Gwen Stefani, with out a doubt, added herself in every outfit including the ruffles, draping effects, tapered hems, and awesome bloomer shorts. It defines her boy-meets-girl theme in a classy but always sheek way.

Men’s Boots
Recently I was asked about what men’s boots are in style this fall and winter. My top style picks are Timberland and Dr. Martens. Both brands have been around forever and they exude masculinity.
The look is classic: boots that hit just above the ankle with laces. Dark leather lends a more sophisticated and put together look. Perfect for wearing to work on those snowy Chicago days.
There are also many more brands that offer the same look for less.

Studio-808, Inc. is the brainchild of Erin Creaney, a PR executive with a near-athletic enthusiasm for emerging designers. Finding herself searching the city for great designers with new and different looks, she knew a larger operation was in order. What's more, she felt the world needed to know about the fashion percolating in the Windy City. Thus was born Studio-808.com.
