Paul Smith London Fashion Week Recap
One week ago Paul Smith showed his Spring/Summer 2011 collection at the London Fashion Week.
His women’s collection had a lot of men’s wear inspiration. He was also inspired by rock & roll and a painting a fan sent him. A notable touch to his collection is his use of dark rich colors. The collection includes a lot of tailored pieces including pantsuits, vests, and jumpers. He accessorized his collection perfectly with ties and brief cases. Although the looks were very masculine, Smith added just the right touches of femininity to each look. These touches gave his collection just the right amount of sex appeal.
When asked to describe his ideal client Smith said, “Hopefully someone who is individual and not looking for label identification.”
L.A.M.B. Ready To Wear Recap
The Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. Ready To Wear runway line debuted last week Thursday, September 16th.
Lower crotches, rockin’ cropped jackets, and bold prints were all included in her ready to wear line for Spring 2011. Checks and plaids were quite constant in her punch of punk which definitely made her geographic influence bright and eye catching. Gwen Stefani, with out a doubt, added herself in every outfit including the ruffles, draping effects, tapered hems, and awesome bloomer shorts. It defines her boy-meets-girl theme in a classy but always sheek way.

Designer Spotlight – Christina Fan
Christina Fan

Christina Fan
C/FAN is a Chicago based label launched in 2008 by designer Christina Fan. Fan studied history at Northwestern University but found herself inexplicably attracted to the world of fashion and design. C/FAN began as a collection of winter coats and basic t-shirts and has since evolved to include Saville Row inspired suiting, diaphanous dresses and separates. The label has garnered a cult following for the luxe, beautiful fabrics and precise, refined tailoring. C/FAN collections all draw upon various inspirations from the worlds of art, music, film and pop culture. Each collection has a narrative character or central theme. Influences include the brooding, fierce Dagny Taggart, the illicit Opium dens of 1920′s China, the many eccentric characters of Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood and a vintage Claude Montana shirt.
We asked Christina a few questions. Here is what she had to say!
1. Who are you as a designer?
As a designer I am constantly shifting and growing, however, at my core I am a woman that loves timeless pieces that are effortless. This is the crux of my design aesthetic.
2. What is your inspiration for your line?
Every season there is a different inspiration. Whether it’s a character from pop culture, a feeling or a sound. It constantly changes. Fall 2010 was inspired by the Ayn Rand character, Dagny Taggart. Spring 2011 will be an exploration of a different facet of that personality.
3. Who is your design muse?
Lately my muses have been women that I would love to dress. One of my muses for Fall 2010, along with the fictional character, Dagny Taggart, was the cellist, Jacqueline du Pre.
4. What are your upcoming events?
Chictopia.com’s Media Tech Summit in NY, The Italian Expo and Chicago Fashion Focus
5. How can customers find your line?
The line is carried by SHE Boutique, Sofia Vintage and Cerato Boutique

Studio-808, Inc. is the brainchild of Erin Creaney, a PR executive with a near-athletic enthusiasm for emerging designers. Finding herself searching the city for great designers with new and different looks, she knew a larger operation was in order. What's more, she felt the world needed to know about the fashion percolating in the Windy City. Thus was born Studio-808.com.
